Creating a Safe Space for
Dayton’s Queer and Trans Youth
Empowering Queer Youth through Mentorship and Support
Welcome to the Q+ Youth Center Project of Dayton! We are a group of volunteers dedicated to providing a safe and inclusive space for Queer Youth to thrive. Our goal is to fund youth events, mentor programs, and ultimately a brick and mortar facility with a focus on the young minds in the greater Gem city region. Join us in creating a community that uplifts and empowers
Creating a Safe Space for Queer and Trans Youth: Empowerment, Support, and Mentorship
The Q+ Youth Center Project understands the importance of providing a safe space for 7th-12th grade students who identify as LGBTQIA+. Our mission is to empower, support, and mentor these young individuals by creating an environment where they can freely express themselves without fear of judgment or discrimination. Through various youth-informed programs and services, queer and trans youth will be encouraged to be their authentic selves as we work to foster a sense of belonging and community.
The youth center will be like a home away from home where they’re accepted, understood, and celebrated for who they are. They will walk in and instantly feel like they belong, surrounded by friends who get them.
Volunteer Lead
“I hope no youth has to feel alone like I did while coming into my own being. If we can make a safe space for their growth, it will only make the future brighter. That’s worth supporting.”

Supporting Queer Youth Through Mentoring and Community
At Q+ Youth Center, we will offer a range of services and programs designed to support and empower Queer Youth. By providing a dedicated space for LGBTQ+ youth in 7th-12th grade to gather, learn and connect, the Q+ Youth center will foster a sesne of belonging and empowerment.
With the assistance of the participating organizations and community volunteers, the project has identified three key goals to assist adolescents: the creation of a safe space to belong, building confidence and skills, and growing a supportive tribe.
Why A Q+ Youth Center
“Insert a statistic amplifying the positive impact of community sources for queer youth. Make the key information 60% of pink color. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
— Quote Source
“LGBTQ youth who felt high social support from their family reported attempting suicide at less than half the rate of those who felt low or moderate social support.”
— The Trevor Project
“The youth center is not just a safe space, it shows hope that we can have a safe space.”
— Liam, a Dayton youth
